Elements of a “Frozen” Heart

It’s your child’s birthday. Cater to celebrant’s whims by celebrating the day with a theme centered around this Disney favorite. Here are a few elements you can add to make your party and its invitations permeate that “Frozen” feel.

  • Make it Blue

Although snow isn’t necessarily blue, it’s a color that’s most associated with cold. Create a cool wintry ambiance by abusing this color (in whatever shade you can think of) in your designs.

  • Snowflakes

Elsa’s ability allowed her to make snowflakes out of thin air. So these shapes play center stage in the movie. They should do the same in your party. You can download, print out and even cut out snowflake shapes to decorate both the invitations and rooms.

  • Snow-Themed Fonts

Fonts do not just assist you in giving that much-needed information, they also contribute to the feel of the entire package. If you want something a little more elegant, try choosing swirly fonts with a bit of glitter for that icy effect. Or go for blocky and sharp-edged text for something a little more powerful.

  • Guests of Honor

Of course, it wouldn’t be a “Frozen”-themed party without the sisters. Feature them in your invitation designs and fan the snowflakes of fandom.

What Next?

When all is said and done, when all the games have been played, when the entire birthday cake has been eaten, what happens to your Invitation Designs? Are they just a one-time deal that just gets thrown away when the birthday party comes to a close and your guests have all gone into their separate homes? Of course not. There are a couple of other things that can be done with these designs.

  • Keepsakes

If done just right, these designs won’t see the bottom of a trash can. They can play another role–as a memento of the occasion. One way to do this is to personalize it. Include a picture of your child and maybe even cut up a shape at the back that could function as a stand. This way, your guests can put it on display.

  • Scrapbook Material

Create a scrapbook for the occasion. Have your guests cut up their favorite parts of the invitation into pre-made shapes or into whatever shape they want. Have them write a message to the celebrant and glue it on the scrapbook.

  • Display

You don’t really have any control over what the guests do with the invitation cards, but for those unused ones you have left in your stash, you can put one or two on display. You don’t have to frame them, but it also wouldn’t hurt to stick one on the door of your fridge.
